Act PFA, 1954 is now amended to new Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA), 2010. As per new FSSA Rules, 2011 all existing Food Business Operators(FBO) has to convert their existing PFA, FPO,MMPO Licenses to new FSSA License by 5th Aug2012. This is applicable to all food units involved into manufacturing, packing, distribution, storage, sales, re-packing of food products in India. As per this new FSSA rules as per scale and size of food business it is stipulated to apply to Central Licensing Authority or State Licensing Authority.
Application to FSSA Authority for new FSSA license requires Online registration on FSSA website and document file preparation according to licensing requirements as per Central/ State licensing/registration requirements.
